Mitte, Berlin 2011
In a unique project between Mark Andreas, Checkpoint Energie der Verbraucherzentrale Energieberatung and school children from the Bruno-Taut-Grundschule, Berlin, a set of wind turbines were made of recycled bike wheels. To inspire the youth to think about ways to use alternative energy sources, Mark designed a set of wind turbines that the students could make in a matter of hours. In a bicycle friendly city such as Berlin, this project was an excellent example of eco-consciousness, demonstrating an alternative to mankind's over reliance on oil. Students learned about the mechanics of wind energy and gained insight into how Germany is leading the world in clean and alternative energy. Special Thanks to: Inken Bornhold and Dam Stuhltrager Gallery for organizing the event. Birgit Holfert, Cosima Osang & the Checkpoint Energie Team for hosting it.CHECKPOINT ENERGIE / VERBRAUCHERZENTRALE ENERGIEBERATUNG is a public information and resource center based in the heart of Berlin, providing qualified consulting services, regular talks and events.
