SEED SPREADER is assembled and wound by the artist in a physically laborious performance. Once tension is built, a twig which is inserted into the sculpture's body sets the trigger. The twig ultimately succumbs to strenuous environmental factors by snapping, which activates the sculpture to jump in the air, spin 3ft. blades and shoot grass seed, which grows over time. SEED SPREADER has been shown indoors and outdoors, in exhibits and as Public Art.
““SEED SPREADER conceptually speaks to the lack
of control consumers have over food production and
physically mimics techniques employed by media and
politicians to draw in an audience by use of fear or
intimidation.” - MA”
